22 11 2009

Here are a few photos from the show last Saturday (11/21/09) at The Rebel Unit in Santa Ana. It was a one night only show. Despite the cold there were a few people out for the Art Walk at the Santiago Art District.

It got a little busier. I got great feedback on my skully and bunny paintings :)

Saw lots of great art tonight!

7 11 2009

I actually have a Saturday off. I spent the night going to a couple art openings with my husband. The first one was at the Sycamore Gallery in Monrovia. I knew one of the artists showing there, David Darrow. Great work and lots of it. It was pretty crowded.

Our second stop was The Hive in downtown LA. It was their monthly art opening with featured artists J. Shea, Lee Anne Hale, Erick Rodriguez, Henry F. Cram, and Akihito. This show had a sculpture theme and was also very crowded. I really liked Erick Rodriguez’s sculptures.  I was also able to deliver my giant canvases to my studio space upstairs.

The Hive

There were lots of people when we got there. It was fun carrying those canvases through everyone.

This is the from room. Alien!

This is the second room. There was a band playing on the left and artwork on the other walls from some very talented female artists.

Peek-a-boo!

Just showing you how crowded it was.

Finished one painting and started another. More Skully!

5 11 2009

Today my time spent at the Hive was very productive. I finished my hanging skeleton and bunny painting.  Once it dries I’ll take better photos and close ups.

It was fun putting the fuzzies on the string/rope.

I have also started another skull painting. This time Skully is surrounded by dead roses. Here’s the sketch with the reference photo in the back.

Today I was able to get the skull underpainting done. It only took me 40 minutes. I get so much done when I’m at the Hive.

This Saturday join me at The Hive for the show opening. I saw them setting up today and it looks like it’ll be a great show. Lots of awesome sculptures. If you see me say HI! I can show you my studio area upstairs. And you can see the above paintings in person!

Artfire art show last Sunday

21 10 2009

I friend of mine, Sphinx, organized this show at Sanjang coffee garden last weekend. It was a really nice venue. Very chill. 4614, K. Howell, Sphinx, and several other artists were there. I took 4614’s advice and brought more than I thought I would need. Good thing too.

I was able to bring my board and load it up. Lots of death flowers. I am also in the process of making art trading cards. They are in the binder in front of the board. $5 each.

This is a shot from the stairs. There’s Sphinx up front in the pink.

Here’s the other half of the area. Fire pit.

Art show at Barbella Studios

21 10 2009

I was asked to be in this show over 6 months ago. It was at Barbella Studios in Costa Mesa, CA. I met Stephen Von Frankenstein (the curator for this show) at Hell, a monthly art show/fetish club in Hollywood. We both used to show our work there. This show was fun. I ate way too much candy.

I was located on the back left wall as you walk in. I brought my Skully and Bunny series. People seemed to like them. I had framed the big one earlier that day.

A view looking out.
