Purple Clown Update: Finished the parasol and worked on the wig/eyes

Purple Clown Update:

I have finished the parasol! I just needed to add some highlights to the handle. Then I turned my attention to the wig and eyes. The wig is almost done. The eyes need some work. This clown is currently cross-eyed. But don’t worry, I’ll fix the eyes next week.

Purple Clown Update: pink lace parasol and leg tattoos

Purple Clown Update:

I have been working on the pink parasol. I’m almost done. This week I’m hoping to finish it. The paint was getting a bit too wet to work with. I also worked on the leg tattoos. They are more solid now. The end is nearing.

New piece for the “I still heart LA” show. I found this little bunny on the sidewalk in LA when I had just moved here. He’s been an excellent model in several of my paintings. The bee represents The Hive gallery in downtown LA where I work on my paintings. It’s an absolutely great space that allows me to focus and create wonderful things. If I had never moved to Los Angeles I never would have found these great things! And that is why I still ♥ LA.

Purple Clown Update: Shoes and hands

Sorry for the lack of updates everyone. I’m in the final detail stage of this painting and all the progress photos are starting to look very similar. So in an effort not to be repetitive I’m going to start combining painting sessions together in the videos.

Click the photo below to watch the latest purple clown progress video. I worked on the shoes and hands. They are almost done.

Clown update and the downtown Artwalk at The Hive

Purple Clown Update:

I haven’t really posted much on my purple clown recently because I’m in the fine detail stage of the painting. The differences aren’t that dramatic. My camera isn’t the best and sometimes doesn’t catch everything. But I am still working on the painting. I’m posting a couple photos of what I’ve worked on in the past couple weeks.

Worked on the hair and parasol. I am going to need a step stool for the top of this one. Painting on your tippy toes really isn’t the best way to go about it. At this point I’m still reshaping things, especially in the parasol. Just fine tuning everything.

Last week I worked on the back shoe. It’s done except for the shoelace.

New piece for “Red Death Masquerade” show at 1 Wicked Gallery in NC

I’m excited to be showing in another state. I made the piece below for the “Red Death Masquerade” show at One Wicked Gallery in North Carolina.

Here are a few progress photos. I found a really nice paper at Michael’s (I ♥ Michael’s!). I glued it to the board and painted it. Then painted the dog skull on top.

This piece took a little bit longer to finish than I thought. I can’t help but use a very small brush.

Below is the finished piece.

“Red Death”
