Jinx shows at “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight” art show at the Cactus Gallery this month!

I’ll be showing a few small paintings in this show. All heart related and very affordable.

This opening is TONIGHT!

We look forward to seeing you this Saturday, February 11, from 7-10pm for the Opening Reception for “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight,” Cactus Gallery’s Love themed exhibit. In conjunction with NELAart.org‘s Second Saturday Gallery Night.
The show runs from February 11 to March 6, 2012. The heart is the CORE of one’s being and love seems to be universally depicted with the symbol of a heart. This group show features original work that depicts love and most pieces incorporate a heart – whether anatomically or symbolically. You will find acrylics and oils on canvas and wood, ceramics, paper mache, watercolors, pen and ink drawings, mosaic, felt dolls, assemblage, custom wood cuts, embroidery and many mixed media works.

If you have a question regarding availability of work, please contact Sandra @ semastroianni70@yahoo.com or 323.256.6117

Jinx shows 9 of Wands piece in Tarot Card show at The Hive

I’m showing my painting “9 of Wands” in this group show.

The piece isn’t done yet. I will be finishing it tonight so I can drop it off tomorrow. Talk about last minute. I originally wasn’t planning on being in this show. But after a few people asked me about it and talking to other artists who are also doing some last minute pieces I decided what the hell. I had an image in mind but wasn’t sure it would fit into the Tarot card theme. I did some research and found the 9 of Wands card. This card is about:

  • DEFENSIVENESS
  • PERSEVERANCE
  • STAMINA

Black Clown Painting: The underpainting continues

“Black Clown”
Work in progress
oils on canvas, 6ft x 4ft

I finished the skin and began work on the black areas. I’ve decided not to use any actual black paint but instead a mixture of blues and browns.

Jinx starts a new (blue) fishnet painting. Oils on canvas, 4″x4″

Blue Fishnet painting

This is a very short progress video of my latest fishnet painting. Blue this time! I’ve pretty much got the underpainting done. I had to stop before the colors got too muddy. The paint needs to dry before I can do anything else. 4″x4″, oils on canvas

“Clown Battle” Painting work in progress, oils on canvas

“Clown Battle”
Work in progress
oils on canvas, 10″x20″

My latest clown painting, “Clown Battle” (working title). I plan on doing several smaller/more affordable clown paintings in addition to the large portrait ones.

As of 9/23/11 the underpainting is done and some detail work has been done to the lollipop and black stripes. Enjoy the fun facts about lollipops! They’ll pop up while I’m painting candy.

One line may get cut off. It’s supposed to say, “George Smith named the stick candy after his favorite race horse Lolly Pop.”
